Welcome to the CRYC and thank you for your decision to become a member of the ‘Coomera Radio Yacht Club’. As a member we trust you will make new friends in an atmosphere of fun and laughter as you learn the skill of radio sailing.
The Management Committee is made up of experienced sailors and have life skills to ensure your introduction to the sport is a rewarding journey.
We welcome novice and experienced sailors (young and old alike) and we promote our club to be one that supports inclusiveness through “mateship”. Handicapped and disenfranchised members of the community can feel safe and supported if they seek membership with our club.
The CRYC was formed with fun being the overriding value. We have no desire to see us become a super competitive club that values National, State and Class Champions above the enjoyment of individual members. We would hope that as we sail together your skills will improve, and you could, if desired, compete at these championship levels.
The CRYC does not have club/class champions and trophies are not part of our ethos. Basically, when you race with us the results of the day are published but the results do not accumulate, so every day on the water is a new day!
The President of the ADFRSA (Australian DF Sailing Association) and the first Honorary Member of the CRYC reminded me of the wisdom of Paul Elvstrom (probably one of the most respected sailers of all time) when he said,
“If in the process of winning, you have lost the respect of your competitors, you have won nothing”
We recognise that every member has talents and skills that can assist in strengthening and growing our club and we welcome your participation and involvement in our club’s life.
Happy Sailing,
CRYC Committee
